When Woody Herman died, American music lost the last of the big band giants. His artistry and energy spanned half a century, and through it all he retained humor and integrity while leading some of the greatest big bands in jazz history. ""Woody Herman Remembered"" is a video tribute to an artist whose various bands spawned innumerable musicians who would, in turn, impact the jazz scene in America. The video presentation includes a biographical sketch of Woody along with performances by several of his Herds, spanning a ten-year period during the '70s and '80s. In a sense, it is a history of jazz because Woody Herman influenced the big band scene so profoundly.
