Scholz was one of the leading German choreographers of the 20th century. Seen here are 2 legendary ballets from the final years of his creative life, complemented by the film Soulscapes, a highly personal and moving portrait of Scholz with excerpts from his most important ballets. The Gewandhausorchester Leipzig performs on both works with conductor Henrik Schaefer in Stravinsky's Le Sacre du printemps along with soloists Giovanni de Palma and Kiyoko Kimura, and with conductor Olaf Henzold on Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 Adagio with soloists Kiyoko Kimura & Christoph Boehm. Wolfgang Manz and Rolf Piagge are featured pianists.
