The origin of this collection came in the guise of a lowly videotape given to AND1 in late 1998 and featured a young high school streetballer, Rafer Alston, The tape was home-video quality showing Alston on the playgrounds in and around New York doing his own signature move from which he earned his nickname 'Skip to My Lou.' By volume 3 the Mixtapes changed the game, streetball finally made it's way to the mainstream and everyone was talking about the phenomenon. 10 volumes were released over 10 years, each exploding on to the scene, showcasing the excitement and creativity that basketball fans could not find in the NBA.
