Set in 1982, Glitter tells the story of Billie Frank (Mariah Carey) whose drug and alcohol addicted mother loses custody of her when she was 10 years old. Billie grows up in a foster home in one of the toughest neighborhoods in NYC, where she meets an influential young DJ with whom she pursues her dream of becoming a singer.
