America's most 'celebrated' death row inmate, former Black Panther member Mumia Abu-Jamal, speaks for the first time behind prison walls. Mumia was convicted and sentenced to death for the 1981 murder of Daniel Faulkner, a 25 year-old, white Philadelphia policeman. His conviction has been protested by a many activists and celebrities including Susan Sarandon, Paul Newman, and Maya Angelou, who call him a political prisoner because of the perceived evidence and trial irregularities. Mumia's cause has created a political storm but we are left with a film about a man - a father, a son, an inspiration and a pariah - who faces his twenty-seventh year on Death Row.
