Mary Pickford makes her final movie appearance in Secrets, adapted from the play by Rudolph Besier and May Edgerton. She also produced the film. Pickford plays a 19th century New England woman who treks across country with her husband Leslie Howard to the wilds of California where they set up a ranch. We then follow the lives of the couple for the next 50 years. This is a remake of a 1924 film with Norma Talmadge and Eugene O'Brien in the titles roles. This 1933 version had Marshall Neilan as the initial director, but he was fired by Pickford for showing up drunk to work and replaced by Frank Borzage who had also directed the original.
