Lomax was a song collector. Traveling the world with recording equipment, hunting folk songs, Lomax taped ordinary people, giving their heart and soul in front of his microphone. The filmmaker visits Lomax one year prior to his death, but Alan cannot speak because he has suffered a brain hemorrhage. The filmmaker decides to search for people Lomax recorded, going all over Europe in an old Volkswagen. Also included are conversations with colleagues and friends of Lomax.
