Starring John Barrymore and Mary Astor. John Barrymore stars in this 1924 silent film about a man who goes from rags to riches in the 18th century. He enjoys life at the top until he insults his good friend, the Prince of Wales, and is disgraced. His true love, Lady Margery Alvanley, is played by Mary Astor. This plum role launched her career to stardom and she started a torrid affair with Barrymore. However the affair ended before she could star with him again in the 1926 classic Don Juan.
