Starring Genevive Bujold and John Vernon. This film from director Paul Almond is an allusive, enigmatic fable set outside the normal frames of space and time. Genevive Bujold plays Saguenay, a mysterious young woman pulled, half drowned, from the waters of a river. John Vernon is Boulder Allin, her rescuer, head of an odd back-to-nature commune called Undersky. He brings Saguenay back to Undersky to recuperate, but her presence there seems to place the community under a curse. Exquisitely shot in the Tadoussac mountain region of Quebec, and featuring fine performances from the two leads, Journey has the otherworldly force and logic of a complex dream.
