Jason Stephens, a spoiled arrogant brat, stands to inherit a great deal of money from his legendary billionaire grandfather Red Stevens (James Garner). When Jason attends the reading of the will, he discovers that in order for him to inherit anything, he must endure a series of tasks set up for him by his grandfather with the intent of building his character and giving him a new perspective on life. If Jason fails any of these tasks, he doesn't inherit anything. Brian Dennehy and Abigail Breslin costar.
