JAMES EARL JONES stars in this film CO-PRODUCED BY KAREEM ABDUL JABBAR. This powerful film documents the true story of Reverend Vernon Johns, the leader of a black congregation in Montgomery in the early 1950s, and one of the earliest voices in the Civil Rights Movement. When his congregation found him to outspoken in his fight for racial injustice, they ironically replaced him with a member of his church Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who lived by Johns's credo: ""You should be ashamed to die until you've made some contribution to mankind.""
